This Week in Kickstarter we've got a new game from former Darksiders devs, a hand drawn Wild West game, and a little wooden PC box.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar

Classic JRPG combat and stylish storytelling, from ex-Vigil Games employees.

From team members who worked on the Darksiders series, Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a turn-based RPG with dungeon diving, a classic JRPG format. it features randomly-generated areas and is for PC and Mac, PS4, and Xbox One.

Backers of the Kickstarter will get access to the Chaoseater, the infamous sword from Darksiders. The game is designed as a love letter to Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Chrono Trigger, and Phantasy Star. For more information on this Kickstarter, TechRaptor wrote a summary of the game.

With what little I've seen of this game, I'm excited. The combat has both a nostalgic familiarity with a refreshing modern coat of paint. The cinematic looks like a rewarding way to break up the combat. The beautiful art design and colorful designs create a striking and visually engaging flavor to the game, and I can't wait to see more of what this game has to offer.

SQUAIR Mobile – Enjoy Clean Air Wherever You Go!

The first portable air cleaner

SQUIAR is a rectangular mobile device that keeps the air you breathe clean where ever you go. The device uses Non Thermal Plasma to fight pollution, smoke, pollen, odors, mold, and other harmful substances and gases.

SQUAIR is German made and eliminates viruses, bacteria, pollen, dust and harmful gases. It cleans up to 250 square feet or 25 square meters. It also filters  1 cubic meter per minute with super silent fans. SQUAIR can fit in any office, car, hotel room, or at home. Its design allows users to simply and quickly change filters. Using Bluetooth or WiFI, users can connect to the SQUIAR app and get information like air quality.

I'm not sure I'd recommend this to the average consumer, as important as breathing clean air is. If you haven't noticed any dead bodies lately, your air is probably clean enough without this product. However, as the video points out, traveling business people may have to visit places with unclear air *cough* China *cough* and something like this could be useful to them.

12 is Better Than 6 (PC, Mac, and Linux)

Explore the dangers of Wild West in hand-drawn Top-down shooter.

12 is Better Than 6 is a dynamic top-down "kill-everyone" shooter with stealth elements, all wrapped up in a Wild West theme. The game is set in 1873, as the main character is wrongfully incarcerated and now trying to escape at all cost to exact revenge.

The makers of this project are confident enough to let their demo do the talking, and you can download their demo on the Kickstarter page. The game is set to launch on PC, Mac, and Linux, with a PS4 release being a stretch goal. The game will release March 2016 and have a 6-8 hour campaign. The game will be available in English, Spanish, Russian, German, French and Korean.

12 Is Better Than 6 looks like an exciting top down game with just enough grit and punch to to set itself apart. Every gun blast looked like it gave solid feedback and really seemed to tear into the enemies in the game. The red accents against the white and black to create a picture that's all at once beautiful and off putting.

SNOOZ: Sound. Sleep.

An ultra-portable sound conditioner that turns your bedroom into a haven for sleep.

The SNOOZ is an acoustic white noise machine designed to help you fall asleep, and stay asleep. It uses a proprietary fan in an enclosure optimized for acoustics to produce a peaceful white noise that will help you fade into sleep. You can also adjust the volume, auto shutoff, and more with the app.

SNOOZ is designed with airflow simulators on supercomputers, and the white noise is adjustable as well. It is designed to not disturb the surrounding air. With this design set up, there is no worry about looping tracks or low quality speakers. According to the Kickstarter, sound machines are more effective at helping people sleep than over-the-counter medicine or even consistent sleep and wake routines.

SNOOZ seems immensely helpful from every angle. Adjusting volume and tone, being able to control it form bed with my phone, and the natural noise of the fan as opposed to a looping track make SNOOZ an enticing prospect for the person who doesn't get enough sleep (in other words 99% of us.

OMNIS – The Erias Line (jrpg)

A JRPG of vibrant characters, a dying world, and impossible choices.

OMNIS is a 2D sprite game combining the mechanics of a JRPG with the gritty themes and settings of "New-Weird" fiction. The game will be made into three parts and include at least 20 hours of gameplay.

The game is not about defeating the villain, instead it is about the heroes dealing with cold truths and necessities for saving the world. OMNIS features a world with depth and complexity and uses a dynamic arc system that lets players influence the story, both in small scale and large scale ways. Throughout the game players can enter and explore each characters’ psyche, learning more about them and uncovering their pasts.

OMNIS doesn't receive the credit I think it deserves. I think this game is really trying to do something new and interesting, especially in the JRPG genre, which centers around how vital the heroes are and how they'll save the world. OMNIS decides to paint a more melancholy picture, informing you from the beginning there is no saving the world here. Unfortunately its visuals ...well I'll be honest here, OMNIS is an ugly looking game. I'm not going to sugar coat that; it looks like some free flash game on Newgrounds. I think that potentially affected the number of donations the game got, which is unfortunate. I hope OMNIS succeeds, but should it fail, I hope this studio decides to try again with an updated visual look, especially as the trailer promises upfront the game would receive "significant changes and upgrades," such as a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Wood Kubb – The wooden miniature french computer

A computer designed to be beautiful, quiet, and aesthetic.

Woob Kubb is designed to be the perfect match between hardware and natural material. At 4.9 x 4.9, it keeps size down enough that you can easily display it on your desk, table, TV stand, or other. The Kubb is available in White Ash, Brown Ash, and Elm.

The Kubb has more than just a nice design going for it. Inside the tiny wooden box you'll find WiFi and Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and 3.0, a mini-HDMI port, a mini display port, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. While storage and processing will vary based on user needs, all Kubbs pack Windows 10 as well.

For the simple tasks this PC is aimed at filling, I like the take on the micro PC this company has proposed. For a long time PC (for perfectly good reasons) has focused on functionality or aesthetics. Now in the age where a cell phone processor can meet basic demands for certain consumers, companies can take a closer look at PC aesthetic design. Having an item like this sitting around for office meetings and class room presentations, or just to look good on your desk seems like a perfect fit.
