About Samiee "Gutterpunk" Tee

Samiee, otherwise known by their pen-name “Gutterpunk”, is a non-binary writer who got their start in 2016 by writing too many words about Tom Clancy’s The Division. What follows until now is a journey spent searching every single corner possible for an experience worth talking about. If you’ve seen it, there’s a high chance Samiee’s played it, and if they haven’t, then they sure as hell know a comparison.

Deeply opinionated, Samiee watches from the sidelines to find thematic relevance on broader topics that surround the video gaming landscape in order to provide an angle that you’ve (hopefully) never seen before.

When not searching every storefront for a good deal on a potentially unknown classic, Samiee can be seen feverishly searching music websites for a soundtrack to the day, or engaging in an argument about which shoegaze album from the 90s is the best. Whether or not that accolade belongs to Ride’s “Going Blank Again” doesn’t matter, what matters is that if their mates are unsure of what to listen to, Samiee will throw a playlist in their general direction.

A near-perfect rendition of fairytales with a modern twist, Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly is easily one of 2023's best narrative efforts, with consistently engaging gameplay alongside it.

An in-game screenshot with The Wreck logo in focus, showcasing Junon walking down a hallway, spotless and shiny.

The Wreck Review

A powerful narrative journey that utilizes a time loop mechanic for commentary on the cycles we find ourselves in, and utilizes its gameplay to play perfectly alongside the story beats.

The cover for Monster Energy Supercross 6, showcasing illustrated headshots of 3 Motocross riders next to a race in progress.

Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 6 Review

A genuinely fun and underseen racing series let down by sheer tedium of its yearly repetition, Monster Energy Supercross 6 doesn’t do enough to differentiate it from previous entries, and instead stagnates alongside the developers' more recognized work.

The cover art for Rooftop Renegade, showcasing the main character Svetlana posing in mid-air while being pursued by masked hoodlums.

Rooftop Renegade Review

A quick burst of platforming goodness, unafraid to be set back by its lack of variety in challenges, and instead focusing on consistently uplifting level design, with a fantastic soundtrack to boot.

A spread cover of Children of Silentown, showcasing the games logo behind a forest backdrop at night.

Children of Silentown Review

A incredibly insipid journey of bad design, put through the minds of youth that fails to answer any of the questions asked, instead being the kind of point-n-click title that saw the genre die in the minds of the majority.

A spread-shot cover of Wavetale, showcasing the main character Sigurd jumping out of the water in the direction of a giant mechanical beast.

A spread-shot cover of The Knight Witch, showcasing main character Rayne posing on the left side, and the game name on the right side.

A game seemingly fighting its own presentation and message, The Knight Witch instead alienates the player with smug self-awareness, milquetoast cynicism, and some truly awful genre meshing.
