Whenever the Nintendo Switch successor finds its way to store shelves, it has a lot to live up to. In the lifespan of the Nintendo Switch it has been the first home console in a while that's ever prompted a legitimate "will it dethrone the PS2?" conversation.

With that in mind, there's an added pressure with making a Next Gen Nintendo Switch aside from the metrics it should meet. The last time Nintendo found itself in a position of groundbreaking success was the Wii, which they followed up with the catastrophic Wii U.

To a lesser extent, the company also buckled in following up the absurd success of the Nintendo DS with the 3DS, although over 70 million hardware units shipped really only looks bad compared to the 150+ million of its predecessor.

So for today's Low Poly with rumors swirling once again about the next piece of Nintendo hardware, we cut through all of the back and forth about power and resolution that fueled message boards and Nintendo communities these last several years.

The Nintendo Switch successor has to be many things, the fans have made that clear. What it can not be, is another Wii U. Here is everything to prioritize and position this next gen Nintendo as to avoid the same pitfalls we saw at the start of the 2010s.
