Final Fantasy XIV Moonfire Faire

Few traditions in MMORPGs are as established as Final Fantasy XIV's Moonfire Faire summer event, but this year it's getting a different spin.

The event will start on August 10 and end on August 26, with players above level 30 requested to meet Mayaru Moyaru at the usual location in Limsa Lominsa's upper decks area.

Yet, this time the rewards for the event aren't the usual swimsuit or yukata. We're getting a full-fledged Tokusatsu hero outfit named "Phoenix Riser" which certainly fits the "fire" theme. I suppose it also matches the new superhero-inspired paid emotes released a few days ago.

You can check out what it looks like below. It'll come in two pieces, the suit itself and the helmet. Luckily, it can be dyed, so you'll be able to properly form multi-colored super sentai teams with your friends.

If you're unfamiliar with the Moonfire Faire, it's a summer seasonal event that started all the way in 2011, albeit the first was named "Firefall Faire," and the "Moonfire Faire" name was adopted only in 2012.

It's one of the seasonal events that did not skip a year due to the hiatus between the original Final Fantasy XIV and A Realm Reborn.

Veteran of the game won't be too surprised by the superhero theme, as it's not the first time. The game already explored super sentai imagery in the Moonfire Faire all the way back in 2016.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, and PS4, while an Xbox Series X|S version has just been announced this week and will enter open beta relatively soon with a final release window in spring 2024. Players in open beta will be able to play on the live servers with everyone else as it happened a while ago with the PS5 versions.

The Dawntrail expansion will be released in Summer 2024 and we already have many of details and plenty of screenshots. While we wait to hear more, Square Enix also shared plenty of information about the upcoming update, numbered 6.5.
