Tamamo Aria Fate/Samurai Remnant

Koei Tecmo hosted a panel at Fate/Grand Order Fest in Japan dedicated to the upcoming action JRPG Fate/Samurai Remnant.

We start with an extensive live gameplay segment presented by the game's producer. You can find it in the livestream below at the 31:36 mark

We see how it's possible to have a snack at various "Yatai" (typical Japanese food stalls) and pet stray cats, which will actually heal your character.

Of course, the lion's share of the gameplay is combat. During battles, we can switch dynamically between the hero Miyamoto Iori and Saber.

The gameplay was followed by the reveal of a brand new servant type, named "stray servants," which can appear either as allies or enemies. By befriending them, they will become available to accompany Miyamoto Iori in battle instead of Saber. Interestingly, we get the reveal of the first two. One is well-known, Cú Chulainn, while the second is brand new, Tamamo Aria, voiced by Chiwa Saito (who usually voices Tamamo-no-Mae). She is one of the Tamamo Nine and this is the first time we see her after her reveal was teased a few weeks ago.

You can also check out Cú Chulainn in action (of course he's still voiced by his traditional actor Nobutoshi Canna) in the livestream at the 42:14 mark.

Fate/Samurai Remnant will launch on September 28, 2023, for PS5, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch in Japan, while the western release is coming the day after on September 29 for the same platforms. Pre-orders are already available.

If you'd like to see more of the game, you can enjoy a recent trailer that introduced the story and characters

If you're unfamiliar with the Fate series, it originally debuted in Japan in 2004 with an adult-oriented visual novel titled Fate/stay night. Like many popular Japanese franchises that had their debut as eroge, it has since abandoned its adult nature (while keeping a level of fanservice) and has become massive multimedia IP including anime, manga, and more, culminating with the ultra-popular mobile game Fate/Grand Order, which was the focus of today's event.
