Dungeons & Dragons has absolutely boomed in the past few years, and of course, it was no small beast before that. While there were only 3 books published in 2015, the year after Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition was released, Wizards of the Coast have been speeding up. With so much D&D 5e content releasing every few months it can be difficult to keep track of so we've collected together the most recent releases, as well as everything that's on the horizon.

What Are The Most Recent Dungeons & Dragons 5e Books?

From an anthology of incredible adventures to a wild trip to a carnival, the following books have been released for Dungeons & Dragons 5e (Fifth Edition) in the last 14 months.

Name: Candlekeep Mysteries
Book Type: Adventure Book (Anthology)
Release Date: March 16th, 2021

Just south of Baldur's Gate on the Sword Coast is a magical library that only those with information that the librarians are after can enter. Inside the fortress that is Candlekeep, you can find all kinds of interesting tomes, many holding secrets or portals to other worlds within their pages. Candlekeep Mysteries is an anthological Adventure Book containing 17 different adventures within its pages ranging from level 1 all the way up to level 16. These stories can be played in order to give players a full experience within the halls of Candlekeep, or provides different tomes that can be dropped into your current campaign. Name: Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft
Book Type: Source Book (Campaign Guide)
Release Date: May 18th, 2021

You might know of Barovia, but what about the rest of the haunted Domains of Dread? In Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft you'll be able to read up on a number of other Domains of Dread spanning a number of different horror types. Each dive into a Domain of Dread will supply a DM with the tools needed to create their own adventures including a map of the domain, descriptions of the Darklord and residents, and information about some of the locations found within the Domain. If you want to add some fear to your players or get a better idea of what can go bump in the night this book will give you all the tools you need. D&D Witchlight Carnival, Dungeons & Dragons Release Date

Name: The Wild Beyond the Witchlight
Book Type: Adventure Book
Release Date: September 21st, 2021

Taking players into the Feywild The Wild Beyond the Witchlight tells the story of a wild magical realm where the resident archfey has been captured, and three witches have taken control. The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is the first deep dive into the Feywild and its strange inhabitants, it is also unique as a Dungeons & Dragons adventure in that all combat is avoidable allowing a party to get through the entire story using roleplay as their greatest weapon. Name: Fizban's Treasury of Dragons
Book Type: Source Book (Rulebook)
Release Date: October 26th, 2021

Putting the Dragons back into Dungeons & Dragons Fizban's Treasure of Dragons is a Source Book for all dragon and dragon-like creatures. From the catlike Fairy Dragons all the way up to an Elder Brain Dragon you'll be able to include all kinds of new draconic friends and foes into your campaign with this book. Name: Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos
Book Type: Source Book (Campaign Guide)
Release Date: December 7th, 2021

A merge of Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering brings players to Strixhaven. This book, Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos, gives DMs the tools to create their own high school adventure for the magically inclined or run the adventure found within this book for yourself. CR Call of the Neverdeep Rival Adventurers, Dungeons & Dragons Release Date

Name: Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep
Book Type: Adventure Book
Release Date: March 15th, 2022

Step foot into the first Adventure Book set in Critical Role's world of Exandria. Begin your adventure as a small group of friends who find a magical amulet that launches you across continents and to alternate planes of existence to find one of Exandria's greatest heroes and attempt to rescue him from the Netherdeep. With a number of thematic similarities in the story that fans across the world have fallen in love with over the years the plot pacing and grandure of this adventure is second to none. Name: Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse
Book Type: Source Book (Bestiary)
Release Date: May 17th, 2022

Now that Dungeons & Dragons 5e has been around for 7+ years there's a lot in the system that has developed over the years. Contained within Monsters of the Multiverse is an updated Bestiary containing playable races and deadly monsters from previously released Source Books all in one place. The updated stat blocks don't just make running monsters in these encounters easier, but also helped DMs ensure they're meeting their CR to correctly challenge players. If you don't own all of the previous sources the Monsters of the Multiverse is a quick way to ensure you have everything for your players and combat encounters including updated and refined stat blocks. D&D Monsters of the Multiverse, Dungeons & Dragons Release Date

Name: Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel
Book Type: Adventure Book (Anthology)
Release Date: July 19th, 2022 (Previously June 21st, 2022)

Another anthology for your players to step through. Consisting of 14 adventures Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel promotes a diverse variety of authors to write not only about the Radiant Citadel, located in the Etherial Plain but also about their own experiences and cultures. Visit locations in the Citadel itself, or visit any of the new realms created to house adventures that dive deep into global cultures for a Dungeons & Dragons game you've never experienced before. We praised this collection of short adventures for the ability to deliver so many unique stories and for the amount of detail that went into the hub of the Radiant Citadel. Name: Spelljammer: Adventures in Space (Astral Adventurer's Guide, Boo's Astral Menagerie, Light of Xaryxis)
Book Type: Source Book & Adventure Book
Release Date: August 16th, 2022

Announced at the inaugural D&D Direct in April 2022 Spelljammer: Adventures in Space is a three-book combination that will prepare DMs and players alike for adventures through Wildspace and the Astral Sea. Returning for the first time since Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Spelljammer is a brand new setting for players to explore with new mechanics and rules as they pertain to space travel. Included in this bundle is a DM guide, bestiary, and an Adventure book that will not only help you set up your Spelljammer world for players to join, but you'll be able to fill it with unique player characters and monsters as you travel the cosmos.

For those who have been playing D&D 5e for a while this collection is an absolute treat. Getting off world and experiencing new monsters and systems that you could never encounter planetside is a refreshing experience. Name: Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen
Book Type: Adventure Book
Release Date: December 2022

Announced at the inaugural D&D Direct in April 2022 Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen is the first time Dungeons & Dragons has headed to Dragonlance in official 5th Edition content. Nothing further has been revealed about the Adventure other than fans of the book series might end up seeing some familiar faces, and that it will integrate with a battle board game.
